SERVICE OVERVIEW

Actually, there is no such thing as a tuneup in the traditional sense of replacing parts to bring the ignition and fuel systems up to specs for maximum performance and efficiency, and there hasn’t been for years. Walking into a repair facility and asking for a tuneup is a bad idea because it indicates you’re still living in the previous century and have extra money you would like to spend. Some in the auto-repair business will take advantage of those opportunities.

Here at Park Auto Plaza we start with a battery of performance checks to base line or confirm the engine’s overall condition. In addition to these performance checks, hoses and belts are inspected. All fluids (oil, coolant, automatic transmission fluid, power steering fluid and brake fluid) are also inspected. Spark plugs are changed along with fuel, oil and air filters.

Park Auto Plaza proudly performs “Tune-Ups” and all preventaive services for customers in in Pinellas Park, Clearwater, Largo, St. Petersburg and the entire Tampa Bay area

POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • Does it really matter where I take my car for service?

Yup. A professional certified mechanic is required to undergo continual training in the latest systems and proficient use of state-of-the-art equipment in order to test the electronics that control most cars’ functions and to enable diagnosis and prognoses of complex problems. Equipment includes: electronic scopes to monitor sensor signals, scanners to communicate with the computers, etc.

As well, a certified mechanic has access to tech-info services to reference wiring diagrams, manufacturer’s technical service bulletins and other data. Without these resources, a garage mechanic might easily misdiagnose your vehicle’s problem at your expense.

  • Should I consider using synthetic motor oil?

Synthetic engine oils are produced through a synthesis process that takes very small molecules and assembles them into larger designer molecules with premium lubricating properties.

  • What parts should be replaced at what intervals?

    Belts & Hoses – 30,000 miles

    Timing Belts – 80,000 miles

    Brakes – 35-40,000 miles

    Tune-ups – 50,000 miles

Trans service (fluid change) – 40,000 miles

    Motor oil & filter – 3 to 6,000 miles

All of the above are approximate depending on how hard you drive your vehicle is best to follow owners book recommendations if possible.

  • Why does my dashboard's “engine light” icon light up?

The check engine (or service engine) light illuminates to alert you that the computer has detected a malfunction in a fuel, ignition, or emission control circuit. You should have this problem diagnosed as soon as possible: if the light starts flashing, your car’s computer has detected an engine miss that could lead to catalytic converter damage if you continue using the vehicle.
